Dohol Film grew out of the work of Mohammad Bagher Khosravi, a filmmaker and producer whose career is woven into the history of Iranian cinema. Across more than 55 years, the company has continued to place the story—and the people within it—at the centre of its work.
Our screen heritage includes Oboor az Marz-e Shab, Eadami, Banafshehzar and Gerdab. Different in tone and setting, these works reflect a lasting interest in the choices people make under social pressure, and in the images that stay with an audience after the credits.
That history is a starting point for new work. We are interested in how emerging tools, including virtual reality and AI, can expand the possibilities of screen storytelling. Our ambition is to make work rooted in Iranian culture that remains accessible to audiences across borders and across platforms.
“To make stories that invite audiences into another life, another place, another way of seeing—and leave something with them when the screen goes dark.”
Our next chapter connects experience with experimentation. For collaborators who share a commitment to thoughtful storytelling, Dohol Film is a place to begin a conversation about what we can make together.
